Learning Objectives
Why should I attend?
We invite you to participate in the 2017 PDE Data Summit, where you will hear from state and federal leaders on how you can take action with your data. Targeted superintendent sessions will demonstrate to school administrators the importance of using data teams to improve the quality of data, thereby improving the quality of data driven decisions. General sessions will showcase the importance of ensuring administrators understand data, and give staff the opportunity to understand the significance of various data submissions. Detailed sessions, delving into the many aspects of the Pennsylvania Information Management System (PIMS), will be presented for beginners and veterans alike. Representatives of the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and the PIMS Support Center staff will be on hand to network and share best practices. Experts will be available in a variety of informal settings to interact with participants on a broad range of topics related to data quality and data governance.
Who should attend?
Anyone involved in education data or decision making – from pre-K through Postsecondary – should attend! Superintendents, school administrators, board members, Institutes of Higher Education, Career and Technology Centers and Local Education Agency data staff – including PIMS administrators, child accounting coordinators, curriculum directors, special education data managers, special education directors, assessment coordinators, and IT/technical staff and directors will all find workshops to enhance their skills and knowledge.
